About the Theory Test
Theory tests are conducted by The DSA at various centres around the U.K. Theory tests are conducted on touch screen computers – one of the advantages is that you can obtain the result at the end of the test and the system is very easy to use
Since 14 November 2002 the theory test has included a hazard perception test which comprises a selection of film clips showing real road scenes and potential hazards. You will be assessed on how soon you spot the developing hazards. You must reach the required standard in both elements in order to pass your test. If you fail either the multiple choice section or the hazard perception test you will fail the whole test. Ask your instructor for more information.
Before taking a theory test you will need to do some studying we recommend the Highway Code and Driving The Essential skills, produced by the driving standard agency. We can also supply you with mock theory tests free of charge. You can also try a hazard perception test on the in car laptop computer.
